A cutoff low-pressure system will drift into the region today from the west bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the area. As moisture gradually increases down to 700mb, storms will have the potential for heavy rain, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and hail. Always head indoors when thunder roars!
The cloud cover and humidity have cooled this down a bit with highs expected to top out in the lower 90s today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through tonight, tapering off on Monday. As one low-pressure system exits the region, another will take its place through the middle of the week. This could draw additional moisture up from the south, contributing to increased instability and residual moisture, potentially leading to isolated-scattered afternoon convection.
Temperatures will remain slightly below average through midweek, warming towards the end of the week as a drier, more stable environment returns through the weekend.
